How to stay healthy during the flu season

The Flu season has always been a cause for concern for the population worldwide.

No one wants to catch the flu, but with the prevalence of the flu and its ability to spread so easily, it is likely that at some point you will catch it.

However, there are many ways that you can prevent catching the flu, and to a lesser extent the common cold. Both can be debilitating, and whilst they may not be life threatening, they can put you out of work and normal life for a while until you recover.

Here are some ways to stay healthy during the flu season.

Washing your hands frequently

Washing your hands frequently is a great way to prevent getting sick.

The washing of hands kills any viruses or bacteria that may be lurking.

These stay on your hands and infect you when you touch your face, as well as spreading it onto any surfaces that you touch which could potentially get other people sick.

Flu vaccination

This should be the most obvious way to prevent getting the flu.

The flu vaccination will prevent you from getting the flu during the flu season, with health authorities releasing the strains that are new or most common this season and introducing small amounts of it to your body in order to immunize you from further sickness.

Eating a healthy diet

A healthy diet is important to keep your immune system healthy.

Foods containing vitamin C and E directly contribute to supporting a stronger immune system. Foods that contain these vitamins include oranges, citrus fruits, broccoli, sunflower seeds, almonds and peanuts.

These have been some ways to stay healthy during the flu season.

If you keep these things up and avoiding touching surfaces in public areas as much as possible, as well as maintain a safe distance from those who are sick, you can almost guarantee you will not get sick.
